I keep and breed animals, though the majority of my animals are just pets. At the minute I have:
2 hamsters (m/f)
1 rabbit (m)
2 degus (m/f)
1 coldwater fish (unsexed)
2 cornsnakes (unsexed)
1 conure (unsexed)
2 rats (m/m)
2 dogs (m/f)
2 newts (thought to be m/f)
1 garter snake (f)
I bred the hamsters for the first time this year, and after one unsuccessful mating attempt, we tried again and they produced 13 beautiful healthy babies at the beginning of May. I'm considering breeding Lilac one more time before she retires from breeding, but will possibly keep breeding Moomin with another female.
Then I might breed rabbits once I find a suitable female and have more space to do so.
I won't be breeding the degus or dogs, because they're brother-and-sister pairs who won't be mated.
As time goes on and I gain more knowledge and experience, I might think about getting some of the other animals sexed and possibly bred from, but I don't know yet. The garter has bred before, giving birth to five babies while she was with me (must have been pregnant when I got her), but they all died so I don't know whether she's suitable for breeding or not yet.
When litters are due, I will announce it on this website and keep you updated on the progress of parents and babies, and when they are ready to be rehomed, I will put it up on here, along with pricing, potential owner requirements, etc. so that if you want to own one or more of the beautiful babies, you can !
I am also more than happy to rehouse any unwanted pets you or someone you know is unable to look after any more, whatever the reasons. I can promise you that your pet will not be considered for breeding unless you give your explicit consent, and even then, they might not be - a lot of rescue animals are past the breeding stage, or have been through enough already. If you have an unwanted pet, or due to circumstances, you can't look after them any more, get in touch and I'll see what I can do. Also any spare cages you don't want/use or are planning on throwing away, don't ! Send them my way, they'll be very much appreciated !
